Product Description

Teddy Cedar
Thuja occidentalis 'Teddy'

Height: 0.5-0.6 m

Width: 06.-0.8 m

Zone: 3

Exposure: Sun to part shade

Slow-growing dwarf Globe Cedar.  Soft, feathery, green-blue foliage shows a hint of bronze colour in the winter.  Ideal for a small accent plant in the garden.  Low tolerance of drought and salt spray.

A very low-maintenance cultivar. It benefits from a light pruning if planted in a shadier location to prevent it from developing an open habit. Damage or stem breakage may occur in the winter from ice and snow accumulation. Protection from drying winter winds is recommended in an exposed location.

The Teddy Bear cedar gets its name from its soft foliage and compact size which resembles a "teddy bear". This cedar was discovered as a seedling from Thuja occidentalis 'Kobold' by a German grower named H. Pierskalla in the 1950's.
