Blueberry 'Northcountry'Vaccinium corymbosum 'Northcountry'
Height: 0.8-1 m
Width: 0.8-1 m
Zone: 3
Exposure: Sun to part shade
'Northcountry' is a very hardy and compact plant producing sweet, blue berries with a mild flavour reminiscent of wild blueberries.
Ovate, dark green leaves turn attractive shades of yellow and orange and red-scarlet in fall.
Northcountry is partially self-fruitful, but more than one blueberry plant of a different variety is necessary for optimal pollination and fruit production to occur. Northblue is an excellent cross-pollinator.
'Northcountry' is self-pollinating, having other varieties nearby will increase yield. It pollinates especially well with 'Northblue'. Blueberry plants grow best in a well-drained, acidic, moist, soil, in full sun or partial shade. Fruit size and production is improved when two or more cultivars are planted together. After fruiting, prune out any branches more than 4 years old, to ensure subsequent fruit production.Blueberries grow best in well-drained, acidic soil.
