Also known as Alkanet, this historical perennial is a favourite of bees and butterflies. Plants form upright stems of coarse and hairy light-green leaves. Short sprays of rich royal-blue bell-shaped flowers appear during late spring and early summer. Regular deadheading should encourage more buds to be produced. Best in full sun, this prefers a cool summer climate. Although short-lived generally, plants often self sow and continue to come back for many years. This particular selection is fairly tall and will probably require staking or some other support. Good deer resistance.
