Narrow, columnar evergreen with twisted, scale-like medium-green foliage. An excellent selection for providing a vertical accent in a narrow space or grown as a slow-growing hedge. Low tolerance of dry or drought conditions.    

Tolerates a wide range of soils, however, it does best in moist, humid conditions and mulching is recommended for the root zones. Do not heap mulch against the stems. If planted in the summer or fall, winter protection from drying winds is recommended for the first season.

Benefits from watering well in the fall and during prolonged winter dryness. Deer find the soft evergreen foliage very attractive for winter food and will rapidly strip a plant.
