This native of Ontario has upright, arching branches with a rounded, spreading crown. The bark develops corky ridges.  Leaves are light green in summer turning to a bright yellow in the fall. Greenish flowers produce round fleshy berry-like deep purple drupes.

A hardy shade tree tolerating a wide range of soil condition. Pollution tolerant making it an ideal candidate as a street tree..
