A tall, rapid-graowing tree, used for windbreaks or as a specimen.  New shoots are light green, darkening throughout the season. The dark green needles are held on dense, upward arching branches that become pendulous with maturity.  The large, seed-bearing cones are noteworthy.

An excellent evergreen for large lawns, parks, or woodland areas, it can also provide an effective screen or windbreak in cold northern climates.
