Prelude is a new red raspberry noted for having a very early summer crop, peaking in production well before all other standard varieties. 'Prelude' matures a high percentage of its fruit in late June and very early July.  Plants are hardy and vigorous producing average sized, firm red fruit.

Raspberries require at least 6 hours of sun and well drained soil.  They are happiest in a nutrient-rich, slightly acidic soil, but will still produce in poorer soils.  Raspberries are self-fertile so you do not need two varieties for cross-pollination. 

We strongly recommend amending the planting area with Fafard Acid Loving Plant and Berry Soi Mix or compost.
