Large, conical, clear greenish-yellow skin with some russeting.  Fine-texture, sweet, aromatic and juicy. Stores well. Ripens mid-October.

Use for eating fresh, pies, poaching and sauces.

More than one cultivar must be planted in order to facilitate the best pollination and subsequent fruit production.   Cross pollinates well with Bartlett and Bosc.

A true heritage tree introduced in France prior to 1800.
