Pear 'Bartlett'Pyrus communis 'Bartlett'
Height: 4 m
Width: 3.5 m
Zone: 5
Exposure: Sun
Medium to large green gruit, turning yellow when ripe. Rich, superb flavour. Stores well and is good for eating fresh and canning.
Ripens mid-September
Partially self-fruitful, more than one cultivar must be planted in order to facilitate the best pollination and subsequent fruit production. Cross pollinates well with Anjou and Bosc. An English introduction from the 1700's and a true heritage cultivar. If the fruit is picked before it is fully ripe, it won't develop the grittiness common to old pears.
