A large shrub or small single stem ornamental tree with unique orange to brown bark that exfoliates to reveal a lighter inner bark.  Leaves are dark green in summer changing to bright yellow in the fall.  Very cute specimen in the garden that provides winter interest.

Betula nigra cultivars are some of the most disease-free birches. Use as a specimen or in small groupings in any landscape, and in particular for wet soils along ponds, streams or in low areas. Fox Valley is a very slow-growing cultivar.
